Inspiration?

Dear Peter,

It’s almost Christmas eve, and I can’t sleep.

Why does inspiration always come when you’re in a position where you cannot act on it? It seems I always gets the best ideas in bed, in the shower or other places where it is impossible to do something about them. I’ve been trying all day to get myself together and work on a project, but I’ve just not felt it at all. But when I go to bed (way too late, I might add) everything seems to fall in to place:

I come up with the web app to make me rich, I come up with the best tweet ever, I realize what I can write on my blog to inspire others, and all the inspiration to finish the current project I would ever need comes my way.

This sounds like the best thing in the world though. It’s like I can go to bed with a notebook and a pen and finish up everything I’m currently working on.

I wish.

I’ve tried to act on it. Hint: it doesn’t work. In fact, this is one of those moments. I had a shower of inspiration rain over me for the nth time this week, and I got up to do something about it. Sitting down with a moleskine and a pen I felt the inspiration fade away, and I have no clue how to keep it.

Where do they store inspiration? Find out and get rich. That’s the plan anyway.
